This Department inspects licensed establishments – restaurants, hotels/motels, trailer courts, swimming pools and child care. Issues sewage treatment system permits and conducts site evaluations. Reviews sanitation standards for subdivisions. Issues floodplain development permits for Mineral County and the Town of Superior. The Department reviews subdivision applications, conducts Planning Board hearings and local governing body (Commissioner and Town Council) hearings for subdivision proposal. Administers the Junk Vehicle Removal program. Administers the County’s 911 addressing and geographical information system. This Department is the contact for the Environmental Protection Agency in regard to the Flat Creek/Iron Mountain Mine Superfund site.

MINERAL COUNTY PLANNING BOARD VACANCY

The Mineral County Commissioners are seeking applications for one position on the Mineral County Planning Board. Applicants must be a citizen who resides within the jurisdictional area of the towns consolidated planning board that represent areas in the rural portion of Mineral County.
Applicants must have a commitment to ensure the promotion of public health, safety, morals, convenience, order, general welfare, efficiency and economy in the process of community development. Term of appointment is two years.
