Environmental Health/Planning
This Department inspects licensed establishments – restaurants, hotels/motels, trailer courts, swimming pools and child care. Issues sewage treatment system permits and conducts site evaluations. Reviews sanitation standards for subdivisions. Issues floodplain development permits for Mineral County and the Town of Superior. The Department reviews subdivision applications, conducts Planning Board hearings and local governing body (Commissioner and Town Council) hearings for subdivision proposal. Administers the County’s 911 addressing and geographical information system. This Department is the contact for the Environmental Protection Agency in regard to the Flat Creek/Iron Mountain Mine Superfund site.
