Clerk of District Court
This office keeps the official records for the Montana Fourth Judicial District
Court, Mineral County.
The Clerk of the District Court maintains the court docket, receives and processes
fines and citations, and files legal documents on the following types of cases:
felony criminal, juvenile, civil, adoption, dependent neglected youth, and sanity
cases. The Clerk also collects child support payments and restitution fines.

This office is responsible for calling juries.

Jury
Jury Service is for a term of 1 year, July 1 to June 30. Questionnaires will be
mailed to the Jury Pool in June or July of each year. It is important to return
your jury questionnaires to the Clerk of Court within the 7 days allowed. From this
pool of jurors, a random selection will be pulled if the need arises for trial.
PASSPORTS
This office is the acceptance facility for passports for Mineral County. We have
the applications in our office or you can find them online at
www.travel.state.gov .
The cost of a passport is now $135 and is good for 10 years. The processing
centers are running behind with the volume of applications and it is presently
taking up to 4-6 weeks to receive your passport. If you are traveling within that time frame,
they offer an expedited service which costs an extra $60 plus overnight delivery
both directions.

To apply for your passport you will need an original or certified copy of your original
birth certificate; two identical passport photos; and a picture ID. Your photos
can be bought at Costco for $4.99, (you do not need to be a member) or Walgreens
for $7.99, or Kinkos for $12.95.
MARRIAGE LICENSE
To obtain a license, the female applicant will need a pre-marital blood test for
rubella (German Measles) performed by a doctor, clinic, or hospital lab. After the
Doctor has signed the “pre-marital certificate” the couple should apply for the
license and present the certificate. If she is under 50 years of age and incapable
of bearing children, she must present a certificate of exemption, signed by a doctor
when applying for the license. She does not need a blood test or certificate of
exemption if she is over the age of 50. As of October 2007, an Informed/Consent/Waiver
of the Requirement of Blood Test is available.

The application for marriage is very self-explanatory. Please
fill out the fields 5a through 15d as well as 35 a,b,c. Do not sign the
application until asked to do so by the Clerk of Court's Office. A copy of the

Marriage Application
Both parties must be 18 years of age or older. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you
may marry only with the permission of the parents after pre-marital counseling and
approval by a District Court Judge. The counseling must be at least 2 sessions,
ten days apart, before
applying for the license.
Both must come to the office of the Clerk of Court at the Courthouse between the
hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The cost of the license is $53.00.
Certified copies of the license are $7.00 each.
